Fondant aux Pommes et Mascarpone

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix gently until the batter is smooth.
Fold in the apple slices until they are well distributed in the batter.
Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let cool before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
